I feel ya brother. My tax return goes into the bank for the kids college fund and giving us some cushion for those family emergencies that will come up all year... and maybe a new video card upgrade. Tongue

Though, my evga 460 overclocked is still rocking everything I need, right now. Interested in seeing how the fella doing the SLI setup sees his performance go up.

Well if you upgrade your card, I'll take your old one...I'm still limping along on a GeForce 9600 GSO.

I've been eyeing a new video card for a while, but paying the electric bill has been higher on my priority list lately..lol

The new AMD Radeon 7770 card looks interesting. It's coming in at only $159.99 on Newegg.

I might be able to swing that sometime...sure beats the 6770 I was looking at previously. Smile

The sli scaling for most NVIDIA cards is pretty good. It helps quite a bit in graphically intensive games. Quite a few fps increase.

So, I'm soliciting a little advice...

I finally managed to wrest some small part of my tax return to be devoted to a new video card (Yay, Me!). Now I need to decide which card to get...

I have decided that I want to move from nVidia to AMD, and here are the 3 cards I am considering...

SAPPHIRE 11201-00-20G Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card for $159.99

HIS H685FN1GD Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity for $139.99

XFX Double D HD-687A-ZDFC Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity for $169.99

Anyone have any thoughts on which card might be the "best bang for my buck"?

I know some people say that performance wise the 7770 falls between the 6850 and 6870 using current games as a reference, but that the 7770 have additional APIs for future developers to use to get better quality and performance.

I'm leaning toward the 6870, but I don't know if it is worth the extra $30 over the 6850.

Any thoughts on the subject would be welcome...

Smile
