Baptized by Fire is proud to be hosting yet another gaming weekend. This time for Left 4 Dead 2! It will be on FRIDAY, AUGUST 13th - 15th. We have 2 L4D2 servers so we will be able to have 2 games going at once. This means 16 total players. This is open to both clan members and non-clan members, so make sure to sign up to ensure a spot (See Left 4 Dead 2 forums).

Versus rules:
The winners of the first game will face the winner of the second game. The losers will verse the losers.

Friday The 13th only comes a couple times a year so lets get a good turnout.

The Baptized By Fire Media Team is the clan's official media team seeking out writers, editors, and graphic designers to report on clan news, gaming news, and gaming-related news along with any clan promotion. We are hoping to bring more attention the main page of BBF to show visitors and possible recruits that we ARE active and to give existing members more of a reason to visit the forums. I have been appointed manager of this new team. I am looking for any creative member to apply! This is a chance for some newer members to get a name for their self in BBF while also doing something they love, whether it be writing or designing. This Media Team will be the eyes and ears of this clan.

Portal is a great single player FPS game if you haven't tried it.

The AI talking to you really adds something cool to the game, but the conecpt is awesome as well. You get a portal gun which can be used to create two portals wherever you shoot them....so you can shoot one next to you and another on the celing or a wall far away then hop through one and end up out the other!

You use this portal gun to solve various puzzles while the AI 'helps' you train, but don't be fooled.....you're in for a suprise!

Here it is! Another BBF Weekend Event!

September 11th to the 13th, we'll be playing a free DICE game, Battlefield Heroes, but don't let that free game smell deceive you. DICE has done well with this addition to the Battlefield series.

The BF:H Command Staff of BBF have come up with a weekend long of fun, and 2 contest's with in-game rewards. Only BBF members will be allowed to participate in the contests, but all are welcomed to join us.

Battlefield 2 Update v1.50 is almost here!

Today, may the 1st 2009 celebrates Baptized By Fires nineth year as a gaming community. Originally founded by the minds of Hive Mind and Chods while they were at work, the clan grew and over the years picked up a number of games and expanded. In 2004 Baptized By Fires PC Division had over 250 members actively posting on the website, with an xbox side to match it BBF was one of the largest active and fun clans on the internet. After a few stumbles and maybe a trip here and there BBF still remains one of the largest clans on the internet with a heavy influence on its members for fun fair friendly gaming.

The Clans strong commitment to a mature family enviroment makes it a unique place to game, with a broad age group from 14 to over 50 years really defines BBF as a gaming community that doesn't hold your age, race, gender or religion against you, everyone fourteen years old or older is allowed into the clan.

BBF's Structure is also a unique aspect of the clan, from the moment you join your have a number of resources available to you to have your voice heard, weither its a spot on the Clan Developement Team, a group of members and leaders from the clan working together to make the clan a better place. Here it is another BBF Weekend Event, this one for April 10th to the 12th, we'll be playing a newly supported game for BBF, Guild Wars, but dont let that new game smell decieve you, BBF has supported Guild Wars in the past and it was a big hit. With the release of Halo Wars BBF launched its first Launch Party Tournament. With the game only being 1 day old, random teams were generated, and the matches began.

The games were well fought by every team. All games were played, best out of three maps, and most games came down to the third map. Team 3 ended up winning all there maps besides losing one map to Team 1. Team 2 came in a close 3rd only placing third and not second because of there loss to team 1.

Some say gaming is bad for you, some say it is just a waste of time, well I have found out through being in Baptized By Fire that it is a lot more than that. I have gained several qualities that made me the better person that I am today. I have been in this clan for two years now, and I have learned a lot from fellow clan mates and the enemies I’ve fragged. I’ve learned how to be a member of a team, how to be mature, how to respect fellow gamers, and much more.

It all began in December of 2006, I was a freshman in high school, and played games like C&C Renegade, Counter-Strike: Source, and other first person shooters. Back then, I thought I was the best Renegade player and that I couldn’t possibly get any better. I was a rude, arrogant jerk and thought I could own anyone. In December of ’06, though, I haven’t played Renegade in a couple months. I picked it back up again on December 16th, 2006. I joined my favorite server and played a bit. I did pretty well, I still had it. Renegade is one of those games that once you’re good at it, you can take a couple months off and come back and still do pretty dang good. Well I was playing in this server, playing on C&C_Walls_Flying, if I remember correct, and suddenly I get a PM from bbdrdeath (known as [BBF]DrDeath in BBF) asking if I wanted to join BBF. At first I thought, this is just another little Renegade clan because I never heard of it before. So then I ask if this clan has a website or a server and apparently, they had both. So I said I would check out the website and then a couple hours later, I was in Baptized By Fire.

So there I was, a newb in BBF, playing for C&C Renegade playing with members like Chunky, Nastorm, rzrbk, DrDeath, Wtocki and others. It was there where I realized how much I sucked at playing as a team. After awhile of playing scrimmages and clan wars, I learned what teamwork really was through communication and strategy. So then I spent less time thinking about how I could benefit myself but by how I could benefit my team. Five months after I arrived in BBF, I finally quit Renegade. I played it for far too long and it was time I moved on to a new game.

I bought Battlefield 2142 and joined the 2142 division in April of 2007. I played under game commander Capt_Duke (aka BL4KT1G3R) and soon I became quite good at the game. It was in the Battlefield 2142 division where I got my first leadership experience in BBF. I was promoted to Unit Commander in June and lead my team to an embarrassing 0-8 TGL season. The other teams were just more organized and active than us so it was hard taking all those losses but at least we had fun in doing so. With the popularity of Battlefield 2142 not going so swell, it was destined that the division was going to fall. Soon, members started leaving and the division became more and more inactive and by August, it all fell threw when the leader quit BBF, followed by the rest of the 2142 division including me. I felt bad about leaving so quickly and leaving the 2142 division for dead at first, but I soon found out that it was for the better.

Within a couple days of leaving BBF, I started up a clan of my own for Counter-Strike: Source. It got really active for a bit but I soon figured out how hard it was running a clan. It was hard getting dedicated members, some joined only for a day then they left. So after about three weeks, it died due to no lack of committed members. After it died, I really appreciated how stable and developed BBF is. I ended up being clanless for awhile after that attempted clan. The time I spent away from BBF, between making that clan and just taking a break from clans and gaming, made me much stronger as a person. In late December of 2007, I was ready to come back to Baptized By Fire.

I rejoined for Counter-Strike: Source. By then, Counter-Strike died down a bit and was very inactive in BBF. In January, the Game Commander, thepit49, left the clan to join some other clan. So then Enigma took over and did next to nothing to keep the division alive. It just died more and more, didn’t go anywhere. By March of 2008, the Game Commander left, and a new one was needed. So then I stepped up and became the new leader of the Counter-Strike division. I was urged by many to just let it die, many just given up on it. But I didn’t rejoin BBF to see that division fall. I was determined to make the CS division active again.

I started off with the support of Chaos Dragon, BigT, Ghost, BL4KT1G3R (formerly known as Capt_Duke from BF2142 division), Rapt0r22x, and d0cc. I appointed Ghost to the Combat Game Commander position and together, we got the ball rolling on the division. I bought a 14 slot public server in April and activity boosted even more. With the new server, recruits got even easier to get. Though it wasn’t too easy because a lot of people we got in the server were arrogant and immature. I sure had to kick and ban a lot of people. It really puts in perspective how mature of a clan BBF is. By the summer of 2008, the Counter-Strike division was in full swing. We played in the server regularly, had scrimmages with other clans occasionally, and played a season in TGL (Total Gaming League). We did ok playing in that league, but a lot of the time, the other team wouldn’t show up so we ended up getting some forfeit wins, so it wasn’t our fault that some of the matches weren’t played. Once the season ended, things tended to slow down. We lost the server in October, and we resorted to joining up other servers all the time. Since then, we are still gaining members and staying fairly active. We plan to make a comeback and get a server in ’09 and get active in a league.

As I write this, it is the two year anniversary of when I first joined Baptized By Fire. I started out as an immature 14 year old kid that was a self-proclaimed god at Renegade. As the years went by, I grew far more mature, gained a greater respect for the people around me, and followed the values of Baptized By Fire: honor, fairness, and respect. Through this, I have become a stronger person and a stronger leader. I have learned all this by looking up to people in BBF such as nastorm, DrDeath, Chunky, Paco, and d0cc. They are the ones who inspired me to be who I am and perhaps in the years to come, that will inspire newer members to look up to me. I’ve learned that a gaming clan isn’t just a bunch of people that play together; it is an extended family of gamers. And in the end, we are all just normal people with normal jobs and normal lives but with a keyboard and mouse in hand, we’re just a little bit more skilled. We are the coals that keep the fire alive and the catalyst that spreads the fire and we won’t stop Till All Are One.

Hello BBF,

Baptized by Fire has been important to all of us. It has influenced us and has become a part of our lives. To show our appreciation to the clan, we are holding a contest in the clan and propose a challenge to all members.

This contest is a writing contest about being in BBF. Before you stop reading and go back to playing your games, take a bit of time to think about the topic. There will be prizes as well, so keep reading.

What do you like about being in Baptized by Fire? How has gaming and/or being a member of the clan affected your life in a positive way?

About the documentary mentioned above:

The plan for this writing contest was already underway with the idea presented by Lawyer (better thank him for this contest!). It has been discussed quite a bit in the Ops forum, and some planning has been taking place for a while.

During this process, we were contacted by a group of students from a video production course who are filming a documentary. We thought it was a perfect opportunity that would tie in to the writing contest very well.

There is no guarantee that any member will receive an interview for the documentary, but submissions will be sent to the students (unless you don't want them to be) and there is a chance they might want to film and interview you. (BBF T-Shirt provided)

This is the goal of their documentary:

"The purpose or goal of the documentary is to investigate the social aspects and community of gaming. We want to abolish the preconceived notions that gamers are all 16-21 males who live in their parents basements and never come out to see the light of day. We wish to show that in actuality gamers are very diverse and functioning members of society. We want to give everyone a chance to speak and tell the world their story, why they play, what their life is like and so on. Predominantly we are looking for stories of how gaming has affected peoples lives in a positive way."


So, the topics provided for the clan contest are adequate, but if you wish to go into greater detail to incorporate more aspects to meet the goals outlined for the documentary, feel free.

Here are the updated ranks! They are still being handed out to members after the change, so be patient and you'll get your rank soon enough.

These changes were made after PC and Xbox leaders held meetings to address the issue of missing time based ranks, and the differences between Xbox and PC ranks.

We now have one unified system for ranks, and a few nice additions to ranks!



Main changes:


- PC in game ranks and specialist positions - In game ranks as well as specialist positions will now be posted in each game section and are not Clan ranks (won't show up on your forum profile). The GC and CGC positions will still be in game and Clan ranks. Your Company Commander will be posting these ranks in your game section forums soon.

Today, we honor Tico by making him a clan Hero for his dedicated service to BBF.

Even though Tico wanted to continue his leadership role in the clan with regards to the various aspects of gaming and administration, he decided to become inactive in order to dedicate more time to his family and future.

He was not only an inspiration as a leader in games like Halo 2 and Halo 3, but he was also an inspiration as a combat verteran who served our country honorably in Iraq.

Our brother will be sorely missed, but we wish him well in all of his future endeavors, and know that he will continue to command the high levels of respect that made him such a valued member of the BBF leadership.

As GC for Navy Field I am Proud to announce that BBF's Navy field Division will be taking part in the Navy Field Arizona Fleet League(NFAFL) in the Operation Convoy Event on Saturday 9/27/08

This is the First Competition that we will be taking part of as the newly reformed Baptized By Fire Fleet.

Our first week of Warhammer has come and gone, and the past week has absolutely blown my mind. Every day I am surprised to see yet another new recruit (or 2, or 3) has joined the guild. As a Game Commander, this is the kind of thing you want to see, your game flourishing and moving forward. I've got some rather incredible stats to share with you all.

BBF Launched Warhammer with 7 members posting active for roll call. By the time I submitted my roll call report on September 22nd, we had 16 members reporting for roll call, with another 11 who did not, for a total of 27 unique members in the guild, which is an increase of 20 members in less than a week. An impressive feat, to be sure.

As of this posting, 3 days later, we have gained another 9 members. We're on fire!

And to top it all off, tonight we had our first real Guild Event, and it went off without a hitch. Our fearless members went PQ grinding, and when one PQ got boring, they went to another only to find the difficulty curve too great and wiped at Dark Elf Ch 9, Tor Elyr. But much fun was had by all!

And it was all worth it. BBF finds itself one of the top Guilds in the server, in a curthroat battle to be in the top 10. Our PQ grinding today helped us to halfway to rank 8 within hours. Keep up the good work everyone!

Company Commanders and above should now be able to post news. Posts from them will go through, but moderators will see them in their control panel and can edit/approve/disapprove. This is to make sure news stays clean.

Core Members can reply to news topics in the news section, but it will not show up on the Home Page, and they cannot post new news. These posts will also be moderated....to get permissions to work correctly.

Rules for posting news are in the CLB forum.

Here's an example news item just to show one of the main rules we must abide by. If you use another website as your source for information, give credit! If you quote any part of another website, use quotation marks " ", only quoting part of an article "...part of the article...", and you MUST give credit no matter what!
