I have uverse it sucks right now during prime time it dropa connextion every 5 mins and I am going to change before bf3 release now my father has it and it works great so I think its a location issue I wish you luck with them

Rocks for me. It's pricey though. Rarely ever goes down where I'm at. It's much more reliable that the power in my area.

Didnt vote but morph you know i hate ATAT they have done me wrong multiple times on my internet and were planning on going with someone else customer service sucks. Everytime i call for something they did they try and blame it on me and degrade my intelegence.

My brother used to work for U-Verse customer support, but I couldnt really give an opinion on it because i never tried it.

man I hate U verse so much its like triple the price/bandwidth ratio as comcast where I live. Its disgusting sometimes I get like .25 down and I cant even load speedtest.net other times.

Ouch, Red - I have Charter here and they have gotten stupid. When the internet works, it's awesome, but when it's not working right I'm lucky to get like .11 down and nothing up.

They have a lock on the lines in my neighborhood and Comcast is out of the question. The other side of the coin is their tv - they just got nfl network and redzone, but they aren't in the same package. I get the network with my current package but they want another $10 (current bill is like $145, mind you) for another pack to get redzone with a bunch of college games and other crappy sports that I won't even watch.

Then they won't even sub channels out for what I really want. Like, take all these spanish stations that I don't watch and give me redzone. Idiots.

Dude, if I had speeds that low for what I'm paying, I'd know every tech there on a first name basis. I would even know their kids names by now. A lot of times it's a local issue that they are seemingly unaware of, or just not gotten around to doing anything about. If you constantly harass them you may be surprised, but then again maybe not. In one place I lived when I had Comcast it was terrible, and I'd call and call. Technician after technician came out. They eventually ended up rewiring the building and all was good after that.

With my job I end up having to speak with most every ISP you've ever heard of for one reason or another. Some of the field techs are so inexperienced I end up having to teach them how to configure their own equipment. In my opinion, and I can only speak from personal experience, Comcast field and phone support techs are the least inept. Below them AT&T and Verizon techs seem to be about on par with one another. With these three, if you harass them enough, they'll usually get most issues resolved. Cox Cable is probably next, but they're slipping. Everyone else after that, good luck. They may never be able to get your issue resolved, those techs are paid so little and so unhappy with all of the angry customers, by the time they even half-way figure out what they're doing they've moved on to another company or career.

That's just my 2 cents. All of my experience is in the Eastern US, from as far North as NY to as far South as AL. Beyond that, I cannot comment. As well, it could just be the service and they're nothing they can do about it. But unless you're in a very rural area, this doesn't usually seem to be the case.

Also, I've lately discovered twitter as a sometimes more effective way to communicate with your ISP if done right. That way you can just embarrass them in public which always works to get their attention. In each instance the tech that contacted me seemed better-connected within the company and were able to pull strings much faster that their phone support counterparts.

I've had at least 4 techs out and the last one I wouldn't even let in my house because it was an upstream issue. I am have a diploma as a network engineer, so I know a good bit about what they are doing and, like you, often surprise them to no end! lol

For now, I'll keep doing as suggested and as I've been doing, harass them. They certainly have no issue doing it to me at bill time........
