First up, our server is more complicated than it was last time we had it, and as a result it takes quite a bit of work to back up the old tables, clear them out, set up new ones, and fix the assortment of new bugs that arrive with each map change. That being said, all I ask is that you download and try whichever map you like on another server to see if it even suits you before requesting a change (thank you to everyone who is doing so with 1944). It sounds like Oring could have been an easy pass if we all did this.

Second, I will set up our old polling system again for map rotations several days in advance so that people can both have a chance to do the above mentioned, and also so that everyone's vote can be heard. Again, if you haven't even played the map, then please don't vote on it.

Third, I know everyone is talking about switching to 1944 next, but I haven't even gotten a chance to find out whether that's possible yet. DayZ 1944 is not just a map that I can switch to in the control panel. It's an entire mod that runs alongside DayZ. Yes, I believe it's possible to do with our current server package, but I can't confirm that yet. So have a backup just in case that doesn't work out.

My sentiments exactly, RPG. That is why we have voted and polled in the pass before changing maps. Even when 90% of us online in a channel said we wanted namalsk we still held a vote rather than changing because majority ruled in the TS channel. I agree people need to try maps on other servers before voting, and this has all been said before on past polls. " only vote on maps you have tried and like " !!!!

You guys have to understand that we just lost all the regular pubs we had that were coming to our server for hardcore namalsk. I noticed on gotcha anti hack logs that there were a considerable amount of regular visitors coming back every day. That adds up over time as word spreads to people's friends and clans etc.

Changing maps willy nilly and being wishy washy with our settings just throws off the people who WERE regularly visiting and now they are saying " well there goes that server already.... Next."

We turned third person on for pubs but we aren't going to get any if we keep changing our minds on everything and not being consistent. We were getting a small following of hardcore day z players who appreciate first only and difficult play styles... Now we are back to square one.

Please figure out what we want and stick with it for at least more than a week before crying for change.

RPG and myself have managed a server in the past and have done all of this before.. I've seen what works and what doesn't work for getting pubs. I can tell you right now that third person won't do crap when there's already 10000 servers that hand out things for free. People that want easy play have plenty of options. People that want difficult play have fewer quality servers. BMRF is the leader so far In that.

But do what you will.

Agreed, stability is the most important thing when trying to draw pubs, and most of these "cutting edge" maps have tons of glitches because the custom maps themselves are underdeveloped- like Chernarus originally did, map stablility for these new maps will take time. - I have yet to try 1944, but I assume it runs on Chernarus, so fingers crossed.

Haha, yesterday I was going through the most popular servers just for giggles, and I saw servers that said "DEATHMATCH! AWESOME STARTING GEAR! 500+ VEHICLES! etc." I definitely support Lue as far as server settings; mercenary mode will attract the type of players that are conducive to this division's play style- we don't CoD in here by peeking corners, or using way points and map markers (terrain association, gents)- We play for immersion, so that you get that nervous feeling in a TIC that you can still only find on a handful of DayZ servers. If you get popped in the back, it is probably because you weren't covering your sector and need to work on situational awareness.


On a sidebar, i'm tired of hearing from other clan mates that "so and so said so and so was invulnerable, and could not take damage"- If you forget to pick up your ammo (or your opponent leaves you no ammo), then you probably will have nothing to shoot at the enemy- Pre-Combat Checks. Nobody in this division hacks OR exploits.

So I tried out I44 and I have to say it was nice. A old setting with new things here and there. I cast my vote for I44 when it comes up.
