I wanted to make a quick post here about Audio recording using Teamspeak and some of the legality issues this presents individual users.

Now after doing a ton of searching i found that almost every state as well as country has different laws pertaining to audio/video recording however i will not be going into each states/countries laws.

I did notice most places have either "One Party Consent" or "Two Party Consent". Because not every one agrees on "One Party Consent" i wont talk about it.

"Two Party Consent" means the person recording the conversation must notify all of the other parties that the recording is taking place and they must consent to the recording.

I feel BBF should stick with "Two Party Consent" even though when a person hits the record button everyone in that channel is notified by the narrator (TS character) that someone in your channel is recording.

Now if you are inactive or AFK and come back to a channel that is being recorded the person doing the recording should inform you.

When someone is recording a icon will show clearly stating said person is recording. If you join this channel i will take this as consent to be recorded.

Now if you join a channel and do not wish to be recorded you have no right to move someone who is recording please leave and poke anyone you need to talk to.

I will be working on adding a section into te charter that makes these things a little more clear so some things may change once the DC decides on how the section should be stated.

I would like to bring attention to the fact that if someone starts recording in a different channel, and then moves to another channel, there is no notification given that a recording is taking place, and while people are in game there is no way to check without changing tabs. This is why I moved Detro, as no consent was given by any members in the channel. I apologize for any friction this has caused, however for the safety and privacy of members within the channel it seemed appropriate.

By making this post i was not trying to step on any toes i am just wanting to set things straight.

If you want to record please ask.
If you dont want to be recorded make it known.

I know a lot of people are really touchy about having photos taken/being audio taped and so on so i want to make sure we are all understanding the basics and all agree to some degree.

No one is in trouble just me trying to keep BBF up to today's standards.

Speed of light should work on that so it beeps 15 sec. or so.
I do not take recordings and copied chats as much proof of stuff because people can be lead into saying things that they would not say normally or if they know they were being recorded. It is a Respect thing (yes and in many cases the law) not to record people without asking.
