Check your employment agreement and see what it says for Non-compete. Go to your labor board and file a complaint. Here in the states you can do that when you file for unemployment. It may be that the reason he said and the reason they report that was the catalyst to let you go maybe two different stories. Even if you were selling your product at a direct competitor, it does not matter. The question is would they have sold the product? Probably not so there is no damage here. It maybe that your manager had it in for you for some reason and took this as an opportunity. You might want to call the HR department and have a discussion with them and approach this as a miss understanding. Find out what reason they think you were let go for, then follow up on that discussion. As always be professional and reasonable and you may find some answers.
