Hey guys kinda mixed feelings today for me because
A) my game is ont he shelves of desura now and selling woo!
B) I just got fired

Yeah so how do those 2 things happen at the same time? Well apparently me using my social connections at work to advertise a bit to all my friends there caused our store manager to be tipped off that I was about to publish my game via desura, and he saw my game go up today at 11AM and met me when I came into work to notify me I had been terminated! He then went on to explain that "Desura is a direct competitor with walmart" and that "You are thus working with a competitor and must be fired" so figured I'd put it out there and say I'm probably going to be around more than usual for a bit.

i think thats illegal. they have no consent on firing because you put your game on their "competitors" shelves.

I dont know the laws where you live however since you are not being hired by Desura you are technically your own business and that your business is not a competitor of Wal Mart that might be a legal battle you can easily win.

I am not saying yeah go after that big corporate power house because i have worked their once before myself however you need to support yourself and honestly i do believe your manager is incorrect.

I strongly advice calling a lawyer and at least talking with them as to your rights.

Am i correct when i say you arent working for Desura you are only receiving subsidiaries if your game sells?

The manager need to get his facts straight and yes get a lawyer.

Desura is not a competitor of Walmart. Walmart does not sell indie games and I agree get a lawyer but call bentinville first. Give them a chance to fix it then if they don't slam them with a lawsuit.
