2nd comment.. If a 15 yo wants to make the decision to do this then they get the punishment laid out according to the law. This is not some bomb threat where people are evacuated out of harms way before law enforcement move in. This is putting innocents lives at risk by swats perception of a hostage situation or shooter depending on the call and those officers could shoot one of them only because the person inside has no idea what's going on and thinks someone is breaking in and has a weapon in hand... So yes Detro.. They should go to prison. I sure as hell wouldn't do it knowing there was a stiff penalty for such an asinine decision.

On a further note, if you don't want counter arguments then don't post opinions. Not everyone is going to agree. Otherwise, post your opinions but expect others to counter with their own. It's easy to be an arm chair judge when you're ignorant to the workings of law enforcement, risks to people's lives.

And it's on the rise and is a major topic of discussion amongst law enforcement and law makers due to that increase and the risks to public safety. More reason to have a punishment that deters such idiotic pranking.

Don't apologize for your opinions, just expect to have others come in with different opinions and realize you must be Ready to defend your statements. I hold no grudge. I'm more passionate about this because we as law enforcement are being to tool used in immature pranks that have hurt people and will in the future. Put yourself in the officers shoes when he accidentslt shoots someone that wasn't even really a threat to begin with. You now must deal with that emotionally, physically, spiritually and top it off with public condemnation even though it was triggered by some tard making a prank. The counishments must be such that they fit or preferably deter the crime. (Yes.. How do we find that balance without being labeled a police state.....)

The 15 year old kid, is an idiot. /Schools/ were in lock down. You don't call the police over something stupid. You most certainly don't call a SWAT team unless there is an actual bomb! I saw a video of the livestream where this happened to the guy in The Creatures, they pushed him to the ground, guns pointed at him. His coworker even got locked up for a day.
Swatting is stupidity. I think I read before that they found the person who did it, and for that i'm really glad. The possibility of him never doing it ever again, is actually comforting to me.
But I also don't think they should put him in an adults prison, because he is only 15. They should put him in a childrens prison until he's 18 (or 21). Because like someone else said, there are people in an adults prison who /have/ done awful, terrible thing, but he's a kid. Who made an awful, terrible prank call. He deserves to be punished for it. But I don't think the correct punishment is 25 years in a jail with adults and people who have raped, murded, killed. They should first put him in a childrens jail, where kids have stolen and have done other smaller crimes.
