I found this to be really stupid, but after an hour with support techs, they forwarded me to this:

In order for Origin to connect to our servers and function properly, you will need o verify that the following ports are open:

Why so many ports? WTF?[hr:owg6zfy7][/hr:owg6zfy7]
Jacob: UDP:1024-1124, 18000, 29900

I've also tried many other things to try and get Origin to run without "Not Responding" including AV Exclusions in the origin program files, app data, and program data directories. I added it to windows firewall and also tried disabling UAC.

I think the software just sucks.

That's weird, it seemed to work fine for me so far. Maybe they just haven't caught all the bugs yet? I think its still in beta.

I deleted that as soon as the Alpha for BF3 ended.

Had no problems with it when it was running.
