Discovering and installing device drivers:


New Start menu "Metro" -



Want the old 7 Style desktop and start menu? Go here and follow the directions to disable "Metro"! NOTE: Disabling Metro will revert Windows EVERYTHING to look like Win 7. FYI!

Clicking on the desktop tile in the new start menu will bring you to a familiar friend -

All in all - this is similar, if not exactly the same as Windows 7. I will most likely be killing this in a few days and grab another copy later on for review when it hits public beta.

Recommendations - Grab a copy, install on a blank HDD (DOES NOT INSTALL IN DUAL BOOT) and take it for a spin. One other word - It use your Windows Live login as Computer user, so if you're not to keen on that idea, bypass this iteration until they change that. UPDATE: You don't have to use your Live login, however Windows Prefers it - also, you can create additional accounts without them having to log into Live.

Have a TC community member who also has the Win 8 BETA. Going by the screenshots, the file size of the OS and the new GUI's .... my opinion is it's starting to look like a Linux distro in several ways. Not saying I don't like it, because I do plan to get a copy myself and look it over. About time Microsoft gave us something with a smaller footprint
