I think the Vizsla is a little less stubborn from what I've read.

Possibly they are also smaller. We also considered the Rhodesian Ridgeback but they get closer to the 100lb mark.

My Weim is NUTS!!! She is only about 5 months old and is huge (almost 30 lbs) she eats anything paper but she is pretty good. She won't do any commands other then sit, lay, and kennel lol.

She won't ofrun though she sticks pretty close to me. I got her because I wanted a running partner as well (I hate treadmills) but even at 5 months she doesn’t want to leave the yard.

I'm going to try and go running with her again tomorrow sine the weather is supposed to be nice.

We take her out a lot as well where I work (Lowes) lets me bring her in so if it’s a weekend and im working on a project I'll take her with so she can get out and she is really good with other people. Doesn’t mind other dogs she just wants to play and attack the cats. She is also pretty good with Bentley.

I'm not sure if the Vizslas get separation anxiety as bad as the weims. As soon as I get home she goes nuts and it's hard to separate my time between her and Bentley its either I play with her for a min and hear Bentley cry or play with Bentley and hear her whine.

Well, we went with the Golden Retriever puppy. They are great family dogs and less work than a Vizsla (in theory). I worry that we would not be able to provide enough activity for a Vizsla, they can be bad with separation anxiety, expensive, and score lower on Stanley Coren's list of intelligence. While I don't agree the list correlates directly with intelligence, it does hold somewhat true for trainability from what I have read.

Golden's are eager to please and loving dogs. We will have to work on training him. He is learning "No", "Kiss Kiss" (for licking instead of not biting), "Come", "Sit", and "Drop" so far. It will be a good 1.5-2 years of him being a puppy, then hopefully he'll mellow out some more as my daughter gets into high school.

We took him for a car ride today and let him meet people outside of Fred Meyer for a while. Will have to look into puppy kindergarten after the next set of shots and how the heck am I going to find a baby for him to meet so he doesn't freak out when older? lol I want to be sure he meets as many people as possible over the next few months.

His name is Muta (Moo-Tah).

He's a big ol puppy. Better let your daughter know that he's not going to be a lap dog forever. :)

I like Golden Retrievers. All the ones that I have ever dealt with have been great dogs with good dispositions. Have fun with the new addition to your family!

Yeah, we made sure our daughter understood how big the dog would get. We were able to meet the mother dog a couple times when we went to see the puppies.
