I went and got windows 7 on my comp. and hate so far. I did the backup and all that goos suff and when i got it all on I found out that it remove my drivers so I could not get on line. It took 3 guys that could not speak eng. and I now can get on line but I need a lot of updates.

I so need to find something to use for email, and replace all the thing I had on XP pro. All i have is notebook that sucks.

Anyone that has a list of good things and links it would help this old man out a lot to get me HAPPY once again.

I need to get it right so I can play SW soon.

You'll get used to it and like it better. You will need to download drivers, and usually you can find them using the motherboard manufacturer, model, and revision. Just go to their website and download drivers.

If you have the motherboard information I can look it up for you.

For email, I use Thunderbird: www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/

Thunderbird (by the people that made the firefox browser) is a good free email client.
OpenOffice.org is a Microsoft office clone pretty much, but open source and free. It has (what equates to) Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and I think Access.

Hey Itchy. It maybe painful but W7 is a lot better. I have been running W7 for 2.5 years and finally converted all of my machines over. I used to use Thunderbird until I had to do a restore and lost most of my archives or had to convert them piecemeal. It was a bigger pain in the ass than converting to W7. Since then I dropped TB and use Gmail. I actually bought MS Office 2010 I had such issues.

I use Picasa 3 for photos. So far it is a dream.

The only issue I had was trying to move the "My Folder" to the "D" drive. You will need to get creative if you want to do that. The solution will cause issues in itself. This is the only thing that disappoints me about W7.

I use Windows live mail over the out Outlook I found that I can have all of my email in 1 spot now. I have my mail now click 1 button and it checks 3 emails form 2 differnet acct.

I have not try to hook up my other hard driver in my comp. yet I was trying to work out the bugs before I did it this way i know where to start looking if I screw something up.

Maybe I am old and set in my way and don"t like change but Windows 7 is growning on me little by little each day but I still hate the look and with it looked more like XP and not the old AOL . I am still playing with the way it look and works.
