GPU:
9400GT was low-to-mid end gaming card, While purpose of GT520 is mainly for HTPC or Small form factor computers. I am not saying GT520 is a worse card. It is faster in gaming as well. But dollar to performance gain ratio wouldn't be great.

Ram:
If you are not a person who has to leave 10 applications running at the same time, 4 gigs of ram shouldn't be a problem (gaming, general use, and so on...)

If i were you i wouldn't upgrade and save the money towards future build.
If you must upgrade, i wouldn't touch ram, and use that ram money towards stronger GPU (if your PSU can handle)

The board im looking at supports 16 gigs of ram and im actualy considering a evga GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card I can get that for around $130.00

what im considering doing is adding another 4 gig stick of ram and the board along with the video card and calling it a day

I probably didn't read this as much as I should but I'm always the kind of person that would rather wait it out until I had the cash to do it all. The way I see it - as long as you can play your games right now, you could wait a couple months to bank the cash for a new mobo/cpu/ram/etc?
