What kind of suggestions are you looking for? Things to add? Alternatives to Alienware? Confirmation you really need the best processor they offer?

I am personally averse to early hardware adoption. With the rate that new components pump out to the market, the bleeding edge only bleeds for a month give or take. I'd rather grab something 6 months after release, lose a negligible amount of performance, and save a grip of cash.

Then again, I'm also looking at a $4-$5k transmission for my subie which some may consider excessive. It all comes down to priorities, I suppose.

I guess I'd answer your question with a question.... how much?

Only suggestion I have for you is that you could have built the same pc for a substantial amount cheaper than buying an alienware which are basically just beefed up Dells. It's your money tho.

Nah I had to go to work panthers :/ so I just left it lol.. I hope not too... Id rather wait for it from the states anyway the one I looked at under Australia was different somehow...

And oneamuck-- all of the above haha :) well hobby wise yeah this computer is a priority... Reality wise.. Paying my bills is a priority but at around $25 a week I can afford it.. Considering I flow around 200-500 $$ into my savings a week.. In total the computer is costing around 3k..[hr:3re1napq][/hr:3re1napq]

True.. How much would it cost to build up a custom as good as this aurora is?

I'm with Shahal on this one. Proprietary stuff means usually zero upgrade options down the road, granted you won't need one for some time with that design. Some laptops are able to now have a new graphics card put in there if you want as in NOT an onboard graphics. I was looking at Alienware like this one you want and they're spendy compared to what I'd picked up. Also note: I have yet to see a backlit keyboard that doesn't get all screwed up if you actually GAME with it. The coating wears off and then your key is solid glowing color, no letter. I'd also be nervous about a RAID within a laptop. Number one thing to die in laptops is the hard drive. If one dies in RAID-0 you're skrewed till you get a new HD and redo the raid etc etc...

For $3k, I hope it washes your car and helps out with shuttle launches.

You should look at newegg.com. I've built my own computers for 20 years or so and used newegg for the last 10 of those. They have always been reliable and I'd recommend them over anyone save Fry's Electronics, but only if you can find a better deal.

You probably won't find a killer-looking case at newegg like you do at Alienware, but you will find pretty much everything else.
