1. Make a list of all the device with Wifi at home (including wireless printer)

2. Find out which signal they use (each one of them)
it could be wireless a/b/g/n

3. If all your devices use wireless N, turn off wireless b/g on your router.
If some device use b/g, just leave the router setting alone.

4. If you have Android phone use wifi analyzer app (i am sure other smartphone has simialr app) to find out which Wifi channel is populated around your home.
Most default setting for router is usually channel 6. So when your run the app to analyze wifi around you, find out which channel is least populated.

5. change your wifi channel (router setting) to least populated channel around your network. This actually helps many many people. DONT TELL your neighbor about this! They will high jack that non-populated channel from you

6. Play with your router antenna. in theory antenna pointing perpendicular to wall is the best way to send singal.


This is basic tips for wifi at home. so i am sure many people already know.

i have 8 wireless network around me, and they are all populated between
channel 6 and 8

There's like one other smart person in the complex that's set to 1, I'm on 11 and everyone else is 6. Lol
