Avoid HP.
I personally don't like Laptops for gaming, simply because they are hard to upgrade if at all. Desktops will always be superior in my personal opinion.

You might want to look into a Lenovo Ideapad y580, or its smaller brother, the y480. They are lenovo's performance models, and mine can handle anything I throw at it from heavy cad work to gaming. And it all comes in a 15inch size, which is easy to bring to my classes.

Y580 - 3rd gen intel i7, nvidia 660m, 1T hard drive, 8gigs of ram
Y480 - 2nd gen intel i5, nvidia 560m(i think), smaller hard drive, 8 gigs of ram

I just picked my y580 up on sale for 1000.
