I have a moderate desk top, but I am interested in getting a nice laptop that I can use for gaming, and just other misc stuff. What is a good laptop that is fairly priced?

What do you consider fair? Laptops are considerably more expensive than desktops.

Whatever you do, stay away from Toshiba laptops

Something decently priced, not like a mac though.

For a gaming laptop be prepared to pay more than a thousand dollars, for something as powerful as a desktop worth 2-300 hundred dollars less, I just picked up a gaming laptop about a month ago, runs LoL maxed out at about 110 FPS, minecraft with the default textures with the best settings at about 100 FPS, that's all I've tested on it so far. Payed around 1400 for mine

Just look for a laptop with a dedicated graphics card. I picked up a 17" acer laptop with an i5 processor and a dedicated Radeon hd6750 for about $750 bucks and it plays most everything I throw at it really well.

i have an older model from what fish posted...i think asus G72 - take it with me when i vist a friend for a gaming weekend. it's a big heavy beast, but i like it a lot (not very comfortbale to use on a plane - battery doesn't last long and it sucks too much power if you are lucky enough with a plane that has 110V outlets - it will blow a fuse on the plane inverter...don't ask me how i know - it does kill the power for 1-2 rows of seats lol - lukcily nonbody else knew there was power so they weren't pissed).

check the one that fish posted out, it shoudl still have a second HDD bay (I know mine has one) and you can add a SDD drive for windows and key software to load quickly...

I still use my desktop for 99% of everything, but If I visit friends I drag the laptop out...more like a mobile workstation, not really a laptop...

Basically what a gaming laptop is, the battery on mine, with everything maxed, lighting and stuff the battery might last, 2 hours. Gaming laptops, suck power, are heavy, could use an external fan.

yep...but if you need to move it around/visit freinds etc they are great. I got mine when I was away on a work assignment for 4 months and I didn't want another desktop...I don't use it much now, but it sure comes in handy every 4-6 weeks...
