Proposed Idea for Server: Events / Inter-clan Groups was created by [BBF]Lue

So as the admins of the server (RPG and myself) we are able to change a lot with the server (but not necessarily everything)...

As our numbers are low, we are experimenting with ideas to enhance the experience on our server... Everything from creating custom spawn locations for vehicles to proposing such ideas as the following...

Inter-clan Groups/Factions: As seen the other day.. Corruption and a friend fired on fellow clan members for the fun of it due to there being a lack of pubs still for PvP purposes... It was fun and everyone had a good time (i think). It's always been the trend for members that play often together to form groups of their own within the clan.. whether it be due to time zone, play style, or whatever. What I am proposing here is that these groups are free to engage each other in combat, trade together, or work together... This would mean that everyone is pretty much viewed as a "pub" to each other... I would give the go ahead to remove ingame BBF tags and change names to whatever at any time to conceal identity if so desired.... This would help in improving the feeling of risk and danger while our server grows.. it will help in not letting the game get too stale for people as they roam about with no danger present. This will also help people get used to combat in the game as they are forced to either defend themselves or engage enemies to get better gear rather than farming loot at and airfield, never to use it for anything but zombies (which is not much of a challenge).

This would mean that the admins would work as a group of its own, as trying to survive normally as the rest of our players do is a rather pointless endeavor when we have full control over everything... We have been mulling over the idea of acting as a form of event props or "AI"... The server admins would act as bandits, helpers, or some other organization that has supplies other players may want.... Server messages could be given stating the start of an event...

Example: "Your intercept over your radio a message... A evac team is enroute to elektro to search for survivors."

This would prompt anyone on the server to either go to electro to participate or ignore and continue on their journey. By participating, you would be able to either work with the evac team and get evac'd somewhere... get medical supplies, food, drink, etc... Or... if you are more dastardly... You can engage the evac team and attempt to kill them to take their supplies, gear, and vehicles.

This opens up a more unique way for people to get help, supplies, vehicles, or gear rather than farming loot or wandering aimlessly for hours.

This is but one event idea... other possible events could be bandit raids on a city, air drops on a city, a crash site with military grade gear (player made)... Rescue missions, etc...



Any thoughts on this? RPG and I are currently working on getting vehicle spawns placed that are unique and not the normal spawns from vanilla Day Z that people may know by heart... These are just additional ideas we are throwing out to our players.

I actually like this idea much more so than say changing the map. I am not opposed to changing the map but from my experience with Minecraft (i know different game) would be to keep thing the way people know and love. Chenarous is not a difficult map yes i know that however this is the default map and ask anyone and they still love it. This will be the easiest way to get and keep pubs IMHO.

All i ask from our members is that if you are wanting to trade or get together with other members do not cry wolf.

What i mean by this is dont say "Hey im in Cherno and need an evac" and when we get there you shoot us.

Do not lure people by acting as a victim.

Agreed. I know that for a fact RPG and I as the admin faction would never stray from our mission details... If we say we are a evac team coming, thats what we are.. we are not there to kill survivors unless to defend ourselves... If we say we are bandits, we ARE there to hunt people... This will be stated at anytime when we are on the server for everyone to know... If we are not doing an event and are just flying around as bandit or otherwise... if someone askes us to identity ourselves and we do not respond, you may take that as we are not friendly... if we at anytime state that we are friendly, we will stick to our word.

Usually you will know we are not friendly cause bullets will be flying your way if we are playing a bandit role.


I will also stress this... And this rule will never change:

If any member is caught combat logging, it will be grounds for removal. It is not tolerated in BBF. You will either stand your ground with your comrades and succeed with them or die with them. It is acceptable to flee and get way and hide if being hunted... but logging to avoid detection or death is unacceptable...

Well poop there goes my hero skin lol. Also speaking of custom vehicle spawns did you guys put 2 planes down on the highway between Electro and Churno? If not we may have had a hacker on at some point. Do not worry though Desouza took it upon himself to take out these planes by crashing them both into the ground while trying to fly them.

thunder found one too, somewhere in the northeast 30~ minutes before zodiacs group ande got off the ground before the plane dropped like a stone, Also i'm glad to see i've started something interesting(and I also follow the if I say I'm doing X that's what I'm doing rule) :P

as for map changes I'd like somewhere smaller with a higher enter-able building ratio.

For events, make sure you balance risk vs reward properly and don't hand out too many items, we had an issue the one time on the korcraft server where events were giving too much reward.(I'd recommend sticking to basic items food/water/vehicle parts/gps/medical supplies and avoiding weapons/vehicles)

Events that could be interesting!
-Supply caravan going from point A to B, can be flagged down for small rewards, or destroyed/blockaded or escorted to their destination!
-heli searching for ground units, flag down with a flare/smoke grenade
-massive zombie horde(idk if we have people that might lag from this?)
-heavily defended base made of tank traps/wire/sandbags/bear traps around a hunting stand with a sniper, raid for rewards or find for a lesser reward
-pose as a person in need, and lead people to your stash of loot!

I like the idea of custom vehicles. Maybe you guys can figure out custom buildings as well and really make the server something special. Be cool to put in a couple barracks at the NEAF so that some traffic goes up that way as well. If you guys gave me a repair truck or fuel truck I would love you forever lol. Then I could continue with my job as medic/mechanic and help out all sides.

Thanks for the input. Im not sure if we will ever change maps. It's possible, but im not sure if it is likely. It's something we can discuss further down the road if need be... If our server average population keeps increasing we will stick with a large map like chernarus... If need be, we can decrease to a smaller map, but ultimately, I think chernarus is a easy map for everyone to play on due to knowing where everything is a lot better... Nothing is set in stone yet, however.

As for the balance of risk vs reward, this is doable. If we get more than us two doing a event, the reward will likely be substantial.. If its a single person or two, it will likely be light to medium yield. A caravan of multiple vehicles with 3-6 armed guards will yield more than a evac helicopter of 1-2 people... But ultimately it wll be based on the type of event... a evac will likely have mid-grade weapons and medical supplies.. food, drink, etc.... a bandit event or raid will likely yield mid to high grade weapons and not so much for medical and food supplies... it will be situational opposed to always being just "balanced" in general. We would do our best to make it a tough decision for people to make on whether they participate or not... if the risk is worth the reward, or if helping is worth the reward... (depending whats going on).

We will be looking into everything we can do over time... RPG is the main architect with the majority of what we are doing.. .I am merely a pawn in helping him construct all our ideas... I bring ideas to the table along with RPG and we mull over them and I assist in visualizing while he does the technical black magic that makes it all so... If RPG can figure out how to do the things you are wanting, it will be done... but we are just volunteering our time to making this server better and cannot be expected to do all this amazing things within such a short time... we are working with what we can for now and will implement more and more things as we get better at this whole thing... For now, look forward to unique vehicle spawns and more vehicles to fix up and claim... we plan to throw in some more aerial vehicles along the starter areas, but you will have to look high and low for them.. they will also need significant work to make them operational... but we feel if we give people more to do, the more they will be interested in investing time on our server... working on vehicles can be a great investment and testament to time spent to get it going... this will also make people have to pool together resources to quickly fix vehicles or fight over them in contested cities.

Fun times are ahead :)
