Things have seemed really slow since the event ended the other day so just wondering where everyone has been.

PVP begins this weekend so hopefully things will pick up.

Im not sure who ended up with it but after driving around the entire map trying to fdind a place to hide my fully loaded white off road i said forget it and left it in the middle of a road full of food, vehicle parts, medicine, and at least 1 camping tent i got on today to see if anyone had taken it and sure enough it was gone so please enjoy it if a member got it hehe chaser saying take this off my hands.

Also not sure if anyone has legitamitly found one or if they have and havent came out but i currentley posses a super rare APSI device i found 100% legit.

This device makes you immune to the blasts for the most part and if you kill me i suggest taking it because i only know of 1 other person with one.

People have told me they want a bigger map because u can travel this map in its entirety in no time flat

I enjoy namalsk for the whole survival aspect of it but when all of us go bandits it will be the few guys that can shoot killing the rest of us. Having a map like taviana or something that size would be good

I check the forum every so often, as well as teamspeak. While I don't mind the Namalsk map, I must agree that it is fairly small.

The thing about Taviana is that unless RpG and Lue crank up the vehicle count a bit people will be running for ever and not see each other all that much. The plus side is we will more then likely get more guests on the server.

Under the circumstances, the smaller map is more suited to our current less-than-ten number. But yeah, if there is a desire to pull in more pubs or guests then a bigger map would be ideal.

This is the same problem we ran into with our old server, and will continue to run into while there are thousands of servers in existence. Namalsk is small, yes, but so are our numbers.... People wanted action and suspense when we switched to Namalsk... I remember while playing chernarus, people were dying to have some danger element other than the incredibly stupid zombies that only remain a minor threat due to their wall-phasing moves.

We switched to namalsk so that people would run into people more often... that was intentional... Smaller map so encounters were more common. With Chernarus, you could be in the north and every single pub that logs on starts about 10km away from you and with so much land to cover and forest, cities, etc- there is about a 10% chance or less that you will run into them if they don't stay in elektro or cherno.

While that may be cool for some, the people that wanted more than wandering aimlessly in the wilderness alone will only be more and more bored with a bigger map...

Taviana is nearly twice as big as chernarus.. If im not mistaken, each large square is actually 2km instead of 1km like chernarus. What this means is with barely even 10 people on the server, we will never see other pubs unless our numbers increase substantially, and those of us that are on will spend hours trying to meet up lol...

Frankly, I do not care what map we go with.. I just want everyone to be happy... But ultimately I know for a fact already that nobody will be 100% happy with any map we pick and there will always be at least one naysayer for each map. Here's your pros and cons....


Namalsk:
Pros: Harder to survivor, Weather plays a role (can freeze to death), Bloodsuckers add a unique danger, EVRs add a unique danger, map is small enough for a small populated server to feel full and suspenseful (you are likely to run into people).
Cons: Nearly impossible to have a secure, hidden camp... Nearly impossible to hide vehicles anywhere for any length of time. (And honestly, I think this is the main reason people want a bigger map... So the hoarding playstyle can come back). Less vehicles.

Taviana:
Pros: Endless hiding spots. Tons of vehicles (including C130Js).
Cons: Not challenging compared to namalsk. Larger map = less encounters with people = cake walk. If ever doing an event, it would take a lot longer to set up and get people to a spot... If you were on the wrong side of the map, have fun trying to get to the event.

I do like taviana, and I do like namalsk... I just know that last time we had a taviana map, we didnt get anymore people... Infact, we got less... I remember always being the only person on with the occasional zodiac, rpg, grinch, or Retsaoter. All I did for fun on that map was fly C130s around and try to suicide bomb the one and only pub that was on.... Its a troll map for me.

Fly around till someone says "WOAH NICE C130!" and then ask them if they want a ride... pinpoint where they are and then "9-11 never forget" them (as grinch would call it)...

Last thing I remember about Taviana was trying to fuel up a biplane at a gas station. lol...

Anyone have any info on the other custom maps that have come out that I have never seen before?

Lue as you know, I do not survive long enough to set up a camp even if I wanted to haha! the way to get more pubs is, I think, To change the setting but then that bring them darn script kiddies once in a while aswell. If everyone is happy to play with like 5-6 people all the time then fair enough but my time zone means I get on at like 10-11 am for you guys and im off by 5-6 pm so I miss out on alot of what happens

I wish Dayz could incorporate the mission scripts from wasteland. The Namalsk design does a pretty good job of forcing PVP encounters with food/warm cloths all concentrated in one city. I think it does a better job than NWAF on Charnarus. I think the missions would just be that extra motivation to really make a difference. I wouldnt mind roaming zombie herds either.
