I was paroozing the day z forum just looking for any updates on the game or to see what the latest is, since I admittedly have not played the game in a few weeks... I saw some old posts like this one:

Its the little things that often make a game for me.... Honestly, I couldnt care less about a lot of the stuff standalone will be adding to the game or how it will look sooooooooooo much better or whatever the case may be... I just hope for little details that will make me stop in my tracks and think "holy crap, they thought of that..."
This post makes me look forward to the idea they have of allowing radios to be used ingame in a variety of ways... Such as leaving a radio in a building or out in a field... the woods... wherever... and randomly broadcast a message across the frequency for anyone nearby to hear...
Imagine being that survivor wandering through downtown electro... or even out in the boonies and this radio comes on and starts talking to you.... telling you to stand still and if you move you will get a bullet in you... you can think its a hoax... someone bluffing... try to run and get shot at... or perhaps you're on the other end of that radio... All you have is a can of beans and your wits... You are a concrete jungle monkey of Day Z... running in the streets of the city with no way to defend yourself, so here is how you talk down potential threats and arm yourself with their gear....
They buy your bluff... you tell them to drop their weapons and backpack on the floor and walk out with their hands up and run south on the road out of town... surprisingly they do just as you say and you watch from a rooftop as they bolt out of town...
Now to collect your spoils... you climb down and grab up their gear.. probably an hours worth of hard scavenging tucked away in that backpack and a shiny new rifle...
Its this kind of gameplay I hope comes around for standalone... While im thoroughly guilty of KOS playing, it derives from a need to survive in this current state of the game... I will be the first to admit that I am probably the biggest dickhead on Day Z, but this doesnt meant I don't wish it was different.... Granted, I've had my shining moments of kindness and have bandaged/bloodbagged a hero-skin player while I, myself, sported a bandit skin with 15+ murders under my belt... why?... because he asked with a genuine need for help.
After playing Day Z for nearly a year, you get to know the psychology of people on the internet more... I can tell the way a person sounds when they are a troll.. the way a person sounds when they are a true "hero"... the way a person sounds when they are a angry british player who hates americans because we are so stoopid.
You hear those genuine distress calls here and there and the occasional freshspawn survivor who runs into you in the street and starts back peddling screaming "n-n-n-n-nno-nononono!"... Yeah i've popped those people here and there and took their bandaid, but thats the nature of the game when its kill or be killed 99% of the time... now you say "but he was unarmed, man"... yeah.. till he picks up that AK from the dead guy I just killed down the road and comes back for me after sparing him...
Grinch and I have held people up in Barns after killing their friends inside... both doors covered with hi power rifles... a lone survivor calls out from inside the barn "WHAT DO I NEED TO DO FOR YOU TO LET ME LIVE!?!?!"....
The feeling you get when that happens is epic... you have some poor survivors life in your hands.. hes now your biznatch... Ultimately we tell him to pack his bags and run for the hills and he does just so... never even looks back... It was like Sodom and Gomorrah for that poor guy....
It is my sincere hope that a more user friendly experience comes around with Standalone.. a way for players to interact with each other easier to prevent KOS, but to encourage negotiations... Outmatched and outgunned individuals being able to surrender goods for their lives to be spared.. trading... whatever. One of the best times I had on Day Z was meeting up with some people to make a trade... we were all armed with nice rifles... and nobody died at this meeting... goods were traded from vehicle to vehicle and we all went off on our own way... No riff raff.
So anyway... thats my rant...
