I'd like to introduce the first building contest for the 1.4.7 server! This contest will challenge you to design an Arena under one of two subclasses of Arena's PvP, and PvE and the bounus Lobby classification, with one arena from each subtype being selected for use in the main arena rotation!

-1 entry per player, that's right guys only 1 arena each! (players may enter their arena as both PvE and PvP if all necessary requirements are met)
-Multiple players may form a team to build an arena, group projects do not consume each individuals contest entries But 1 player Must be elected leader, and will use their entry chance up.
-Any form of griefing, or otherwise interfering with the building of an arena will warrant removal fromt he contest, and possible action in the forms of mute/kick/ban/dropped in lava.
-Outside the construction zone a player may create upto 3 signs on blocks indicating a substitution of a block I.E all gravel in the arena represents Stone brick, Screenshots for the Voting will be taken After substitutions.
-All arena's are to be completed by February 25th 2013 at 00:01 GMT -5, entries after this date will not be considered. voting will begin shortly after this time. and will extend to February 29th at 00:01 GMT -5.
-All entrants must have fun!

-Maximum size of 50X50, 15 tall
-must be a minimum size of 8X8, 5 tall
-Must contain a flat 3X3 plain for players to spawn on.
-Must contain atleast 4 marked Mob spawn locations, marked Via a high contrast block.

-Maximum size of 40X40, 20 tall
-must be a minimum size of 15X15, 5 tall
-Must contain at least 2 flat 3X3 plains for players to spawn on.

-Must contain room for at least 12 signs at eye level.

Do we contact a admin to place mob spawners if we go with a pve design or put in substitution blocks letting people know what mob you want where?

Added that to the PvE arena requirements, has to be atleast 4 , marked by a high contrast block relative to your structure, so if everythings grey mark the spawn spot red/purple/green.

Would 50 spawners be too much?

It may be easiest if I open the second server with a flat Map and creative

That would make things so much easier. I have a idea for a pve arena but what I lack is the material to build it with.

Myself and jerako45 are already building a Medieval town with a few occupants already, we have enough resources to build an arena, and already plan on doing it.

The subsitution signs idea was put in place to allow the materials be made easier and made into something grand afterwards, I decided against the idea of using the secondary server for the creation of the arena's for a few reasons

1. Not every arena is going to be put into action, if you're going to take the time to build an arena even if you don't place it in action you can show it off
2. It makes it more of a challenge,this is a contest guys and their may be a bit more to the reward than i said earlier
3. The secondary server is not always up, while we could change this I'd rather be completely sure anyone who wants to participate can.

Would it be possible to make an arena in creative on a single player map and send it? It seems like a lot of work to build a quality arena without creative, especially since the shops recently opened and a lot of building material has been sent into them... I don't feasibly see making a quality arena just on the normal server, especially since one mistake can't be easily fixed by a little flying and such, and if you want to use several kinds of wool well have fun with that D: Oh and if you're making a larger structure one incorrect pressing of shift will kill ya and make things suck, and the map isn't flat so you'd have to spend a lot of time just clearing an area, and what if it's too small? Just saying if I make one it's gonna be a single player creative because multiplayer survival too many things can go wrong.
