right now teamspeak is lagging out kicking everyone, is this some scheduled changes or maintenance , or is there something wrong with the host?

Probably the host. I complain when it happens, but they don't give us anything in return other than they are working on it.

They run multiple Teamspeak servers off of their servers, so if there is a DDOS, it will affect multiple clients potentially.

Much better than our previous host was at least...that one would go down for long periods of time.[hr:3huv5kef][/hr:3huv5kef]

We could try another host, but we will never have 100% uptime. We used to host our own, but it will be more expensive...and as it is I end up paying out of my own pocket.

I wouldn't mind trying a different host, like Gameservers.com....but I can't guarantee it will be any better.

All shared hosting services are going to run into this problem as every community attracts some amount of immaturity over time. Moving hosts won't reduce/fix the potential of a DDoS attack. Just my $0.02.

And I definitely don't think you should move the service back to self hosted. No reason to risk having to bare that burden yourself.

I agree Jester. Jester knows what it is like hosting TS, as he helped get it set up a couple times for the clan on our own dedicated servers.

I also remember helping some and it's much worse when the service is down for 1-2 days while one of the 3 people who can fix the issue are gone, whereas the hosted TS through one of these hosting companies usually is not interrupted more than a few hours, if that.



I would maybe consider a different host for price, however. I just would hate to have that lower price come with worse TS quality.
