Star Citizen is an upcoming space combat and trading game developed by Cloud Imperium Games. It's being described as an "EVE style game", where you will be able to upgrade various ships throughout your career (which you will lose if you die without insurance). The actual gameplay will be similar to that of Wing Commander from the 90's and will be built on CryEngine. A central part of the game is citizenship. Based in a futuristic version of the Roman Empire, players don't start with citizenship, and must earn it through civic duty or military service. However, you can choose to not become a citizen, which may have social consequences.

It will be broken into 3 different styles of play -

1. Single player - There will be a campaign much like Wing Commander series

2. MMO - A dynamicly changing, permanent, persistent world filled with "anomalies" which a player must find and successfully navigate to open new areas

3. Private servers - Allows for modding content
