I have made quite a few alterations to the mining world tonight and before we open the world to the public ill leave it this way for a day or two.

Whe i have a chance to shutdown the server and do the 30 minute ish process i will regen the world with the new world and ore generation settings from tonight and open the world.

The Mining world is now open to all players.

Here is a list of blocks not affected by gravity.

Brick
Brick Stairs
Obsidian
Glowstone
Nether Brick
Nether Brick Stairs
Stone Bricks (all types)
Stone Stairs (All types)
Cobble Walls (both types)
Quartz (all blocks)
Hardened Clay (all colors)
Book Shelf

A few other items that are effected by gravity

Anvils fall
Beds fall
Dispensers fall
Note Blocks fall
Chests fall
Crafting Tables fall
Furnaces fall
Trapped Chests fall
