IPv6 is the next version of the internet... the world is OUT OF the current type of IP addresses... IPv6 is the next version providing more IP addresses then there is molecules on the planet earth!

Typical IP address for IPv4 = 66.18.244.247
Typical IP address for IPv6 = 2607:feb0:fffe::f1 or extended out to 2607:feb0:fffe:0000:0000:0000:0000:f1 in HEX

One of the ISP's down here actually told one of our clients they didn't have any more IP's to give out. They did, but they are getting tighter on how they give them out.

Honestly, I think the better answer would be more DNS/virtualhost type of configurations for other web services rather than these long IP's, but IPv6 is what we'll have.

that is coming... as of next year you can buy TLD's ...

however that does not fix the problem...
even with NAT and ROUTERS, there is just physicaly not enough IP addresses for every phone, router, computer, home security, ATM, debit card reader, .... the list goes on..

NAT routers did some the problem for a bit.. but... we are just out of IP's and out of time...
