Finally, Bukkit is officially part of Mojang, the company behind Minecraft.

What does this mean for Minecraft? Hopefully, it will mean more stable and better timed releases of both Minecraft and Bukkit updates.

There have been long waits for Bukkit updates in-between Minecraft updates in the past. This leaves server admins and players stuck either without new features or without working features they depend on.

I'd like to think the couple topics I started on the Bukkit forum played a part in making this happen, as community members praised Bukkit for their efforts while voicing concerns about not working more closely with Mojang, but I realize it was likely an inevitable change. If anything, it may have helped re-assure them that their cooperation with Mojang would be appreciated by many.

In my opinion, Minecraft would not be where it is today without Bukkit. I know many others share this opinion and are very excited to see them officially work together.

Minecraft may continue to be the most popular indie game for years to come if an official API and engaging features are added.
