How did you....? was created by [BBF]Youknow

Just wondering how everybody else got into PC gaming?

For me, I had just moved back home from living on my own! I had gotten an Emachine that I got from a friend, and i was at home bored and didn't have a console at the time, and COD4 was the big hype at the time so I figured, why not get it for the PC! (I had not a clue if it would run or not on the computer, didn't know nothing of PC's then) Sure enough it fired right up! And thats how I got into PC's and PC gaming.

Good Question.

Well when I was younger my little brother and I saved enough to get two build two bottom of the line computers my step dad built then and since then he always had like Sims or something of that sort. Once we got older we went thru like all the consol platforms fell in love with the PS2 bought a ton of games for it I'm a big Need for speed fan (love it). I switched school like my sophomore year (moved from my mom's to my dad's). During my Sr. year I decided to join the army and with my grad money I bought a laptop so when I was done with basics it would be ordered and my step dad would get it running and take it to me since the base I would do my training was a base he worked on. As some of you know the army fell thru and yeah I made a drastic decision moved back to KS almost that same day where I had a brand new DELL waiting me the first thing I got was some of the older battlefields and after we got COD4 for the PS2 I decided I would get it for the PC so my little brother could play on the PS2 and I could play on PC. Ever since then I have learned a ton about computers built my own and can't get enough PC games. (I will never go back to console)

Well, I think the original Sims game is what got me into PC gaming. I always thought it was fun to build a room around them and watch them panic....lol But what REALLY got me into it was all the image software and being able to make my own graphics. I saw how good it looked doing that and decided I'd try other games (other than the Sims).

I think the oldest game I have on my PC right now is The original Grand Theft Auto. The newest is Crysis 2 and I have a little of everything in between.

The budget build I have now is my first full step into gaming on the PC. It simply came to be from GTA IV - my old Dual Core could run it, but the processor was maxed like 85% the time. So I dove in and built this while passing the other to my kids for TF2, Warhammer and DOOM 3.

As for consoles, we have a 360, but I buy most of my games on the PC now. PC Gaming is an expensive habit to break! lol

well my PC gaming experience started with a first build (had some help) about 10 or 12 years ago. i started playing games on the pogo.com website but it this time i was still a heavy PS1 and PS2 player. then moved to florida were a friend of the family gave me their copy of the original sims. then i got some other games along the way all while building comps and buying very cheap machines.

then about 6-8 years ago i moved back to Pa and my brother DusterNut was playing UTXMP with his [X] clan buddies, who most of the [x] clan eventually joined BBF. anyways he got me into playing UTXMP, which is what brought me to BBF. this was my first FPS/multiplayer game for the PC. I had the most and best experience playing it. I would say that UTXMP was the game that converted me full heartedly to PC games. I played this with a comp that barely met the minium requirements. they were 1GHz cpu 786 MB ram and 128MB Nvidia card.

This is how DakotaNut got into PC games

and an fyi for all
DusterNut got his name because he is nuts about his 1974 duster
DakotaNut I got my name 3 ways Dakota because my first vehicle was a dakota pickup and im nuts about it plus the Nut also shows relation between me and Duster.

Started off by playing Half-Life singleplayer, loved it. Then was introduced to C&C Renegade and everything was history from there. I've been primarily PC gaming since.

My story's pretty much the same as Musskill's but what really got me into gaming was Delta Force: Task Force Dagger, it was the first game I ever really got into playing online in, my sister (Kitteh) and I played it using the matching names SneekySnake and DeathAdder.

Some one told me about Red Alert and the other C&C games so I picked up some and got hooked on Dune 2000 then Renegade.

Man this is far back. When i was really little I would play Star Wars Tie fighter at my friends house. I didnt really have a good computer then so i would go to his house to play. Through the years I played BF1942,COD1,COD2,BFvietnam, and Medal of Honor (all the old school FPS's) at his house. During this my computer was still too bad to play real games so I would play Quake like single player games that cost about 10 bucks each. Then i started playing age of the empires 2 and it opened me up even more. Eventually i got my own pc and have been playing the most current games ever since.
