so im looking for a new video card, any recommendations?

it needs:

-around 2gb in memory
-not an off brand video card (something like Nvidia or Radeon unless it has great reviews)
-needs to be a PCI Express interface (2.0?)
-DVI slot
-DDR3
-300$ or less

i have an HP pavilion p6604y with
-AMD Anthalon II x2 processor marked at 2.6 GHz
-windows 7 64-bit OS (ACPI x64 based)
-Nvidia GeForce 8400 gs
-HP x20 LED series wide LCD monitor

if u need any other info just ask

How many wats is it at least? if you open the side panel you should be able to get a manufacture and a wattage

well its been a few days and no one has responded with any suggestions. i would love to hear your guys opinion on the matter as there are quite a few of u who have worked with computers far longer then i have.

You might be able to run one of the NVIDIA GTX 400 series i dont know much about the NVIDIA side so hopefully someone can get you a better answer. You might also want to look into getting a bigger powersupply as well. Considering your budget of less then 300 you can most likley be able to get both if you search.

I've been using the Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 460 for about a year now.
I've never had any hiccups at all with it.
I'm having some issues with running DX:HR at max settings though, (DirectX9)
not sure if its because the game is optimized for Radeon or my GPU just can't
keep up with the latest games from this year.
But from the game releases this year; I can play Dead Space 2 max settings
perfectly (with minor FPS drops).

Overall, the GTX 460 is a great GPU for people with a budget or just aren't looking
to spend that much.
I think you can get it from a computer shop from under $200 USD.
