Have you wanted to try out Guild Wars 2? was created by [BBF]f1shman

Well your opportunity is fast approaching.

On Monday, November 12th, Arenanet will allow current Guild Wars 2 account owners (who had an account in good standing as of November 6th) to invite 3 friends to a free trial that will cover the weekend of November 15th-18th. The trial will allow people who haven't purchased the game yet to access the lands of Tyria and experience the basic workings of Guild Wars 2.

If you are interested in receiving a trial invite for this first trial weekend you can post a reply here and we will do our best to fill requests.

For more information on the trial, check out the news announcement.

Guild Wars 2, for those who have not tried it, or even heard of it, is a culmination of corrections for the MMO gaming world. Take for instance all of the things that annoyed you about previous MMOs such as "The Grind" to reach end game content, or having people steal the gear you get from completing a dungeon or raid. All of these things have been corrected and tweaked to form Guild Wars 2. In the land of Guild Wars, there is no Grind, the entire leveling process presents meaning and fun! There are no boring return quests to do (ex. Kill three wolves and get their hide and run across the world to return them to me) instead, the world is dynamic and the way you complete a quest is different every time! For instance you walk into a zone and a heart appears at the top right of your screen and tells you ways you can help out the world around you. Plus there are dynamic events! Times in the game where you and all the other players around you are called to do world altering missions. From warding off a raid on a nearby town, to gathering with 100 other players to take down a gigantic elder dragon! And these possibilities never become boring or stale.
If you ever hated a game because you made a character of a certain class, you may find you get bored of the classes skills easily, but in Guild Wars there are seemingly unlimited skill choices for each of the classes that are tasteful and different from any other class. You may be a guardian, who chooses to breathe fire from his mouth and heal the allies around him, or a cloning magician who tends to fire a rail gun from the end of his greatsword. PLUS all of the weapons you can wield give your character and class different abilities than anyone else!
The pvp system they've designed is called "World vs. World" and it is the most exciting player versus player experience I've had of any MMORPG I've ever known. Your realm, with everyone on it, is pitted against two other realms in a three way battle where each world controls it's own land with keeps, castles, and towers. These along with sentry points and supply camps can be captured by launching large scale siege offensives with an array of siege weaponry. From flame rams, and arrow carts, to trebuchets and even robotic golems! these and more can be used to attack or defend meaningful world positions which give your team points every fifteen minutes depending on how many points you control. And this isn't any 15 minute game deal. We're talking a WEEK's worth of pvp against two opposing worlds. This leads to a very tight knit and social realm of your own where all the guilds work together and give you the feeling that things are so much bigger than just you.
And when it comes down to it, whether or not we would like to admit it, what we like to see in a game is a low cost. World of Warcraft demands a large sum be paid upfront at the start of the game, and then continues to charge you a whopping fifteen dollars a month! And their content isn't even very exciting! Guild Wars only asks a one time commitment of sixty dollars to have a game that will last you for years without any hidden costs. And for a short time you are able to try the game out over the November 15-18th weekend!
