Re: HD and RAM after the fire was created by [BBF]Chaser

So when we were able to get into the house and everything was ok we got both of our melted computers I took the RAM sticks out and the HD drives out they seem to be ok but I let them sit out for a few days in case they got wet they are all now in separate plastic bags.

Once we get a computer running I want to know if it will be ok to plug the RAM sticks in pull the info and toss them same as the HD drives. I just wasn’t sure since both HD’s already have separate OS installed on them. Should I try to install them on a cruddy comp just so the new comp we build won’t get damaged? Or is some techie willing to receive the HD’s and Ram sticks and remove the info off and send it to us?

you shouldn't have any issues pulling the info of them. for the HDD, get the new system running, then conenct the other drive(s) and copy the data over.
if they are sata drives, there are some handy USB adaptors...

I don't remember which brand I had bought, but it works quite nicely to copy data over - plus this way you don't need to open your case....
