Okay, so Saturday I get a brand new computer, it is a HP with a Windows 8 operating system... Oh freaking boy...

Now I can not play any of my old games on it, and the cruel irony is that the computer is better than my Toshiba Satellite -.-

I have looked EVERYWHERE and I can not find a way to get my old games working. The games I have on disc work fine, but it is my MMO's that don't update correctly.

The games I play: World of Tanks, World of Warplanes (NDA is taken off so I can say stuff about it), Rappelz, and Need for Speed: World.

Could someone PLEASE help me figure out how to make these games work???

compatibility mode, run as admin, disable UAC, go back to XP, administrator account, are the standard tricks i've never used 8 before (and hopefully will never have to) so I can't give a completely accurate answer-

i picked this up from a rappelz thread, so a patch and transplant may work?
theres also a few reports of rappelz not working on win 8 beta
-WoT has a reported win8 bug where it may be missing directX, and there was a patch before feb 12th that was helpful
-admin permissions is listed as a big thing to make sure of
-firewall/network permissions modules are pointed at if it's an update issue
-NFSW will not automaticallu install .net framework on windows 8, the user must do this manually sometimes

can't dig much deeper without exact error logs.

Hello, I have win8 and if I have a problem running a game I make sure it's running in compatibility mode for win7 and that it is run as an admin. Also check the forums for these games and see if others are having problems with win8. I have warplanes and it runs fine for me

I have tried the compatibility mode, run as admin, and checked the firewalls. The first two didn't work and the last one checked out.

I am now trying to download the games onto my mom's laptop (my old laptop that is Win-7) and I will attempt to transfer the files over with a flash drive

Very strange that you have problems with win8 and I don't. Make sure all your drivers are updated aswell that can cause problems

How do I update drivers and which ones need to be updated?

Just the usual graphics and audio. They can cause problems if there are out dated. If the PC was bought already built etc then there is a chance it's got old drives

Okay, here is an update for everyone who posted...

I got most of the games I wanted to play on my computer, I have not even attempted to try NFS:W. A trick I was told was to make a separate user account on my computer with admin permissions, download it onto that profile, and see how that works. So far, I have ran into very little trouble with Rappelz, WoT, and WoWp (even though my Rappelz client lagged and stopped responding ONCE).

I only have one final problem, and that is TS.

I have it downloaded, and it works, but when I try to play a game, it does not let me speak to the people in the server. I don't know how to fix this and I run it as administrator, so idk what is the issue
