Windows 8 was created by [BBF]Chaser

The fiance laptop burned up is mobo so we just picked up a new laptop but we were wondering is there any way to make a default Windows 8 go back to 7? I'm not home yet and haven't played or done any research on 8 so any advice would be great.

I did some researching when i got home and installed some things that adds the windows 7 start menu but still offers 8 compatability

I'm not to familiar with windows 8, but from seeing it in person, I'm not a big fan. As far as I can tell from tinkering with it a little is this: It still looks like windows 7 when you get to the desktop, just dont venture near the menu with all the hubs on it lol

I wonder if there's some *old mode* like you could run Windows 7 like XP with the Ultimate edition. Though with a new laptop you're likely just on Home Premium.

Like i said there are apps that allow it to look like 7 there an app that turns off some of 8's features like skipping the windows start menu and the corner features and theres apps that will give you an actual start menu instead of the windowed start menu.

I played with it a bit and it wasnt all that bad after playing. Would be much better with a touch screen.

I have win 8 myself and the only "new" features I use on those window tiles are the news and sport. the rest is just garbage for touchscreen internet browser people. Most of the time when I boot in I click desktop and im fine. The start button thing isn't such a problem for me seeing as you can just move your mouse to the top/bottom right and hit setting if you need to get to the control panel and power etc.

Yeah I thought that windows 8 was for touch screen mainly.

And I think it is a way to get apple user that are hook on apps back to windows.
