The Reactor was created by Mor9heus

This is my first build......Most of the parts came from the bargain shelf, but I'm still proud of it.

MOBO
Asus M4A785-M

Processor
AMD Phenom 9850 Quad Core (THOUGHT it was a BE - I was wrong)

Cooler
Corsair H70 Water cooler

RAM
6 gigs of DDR2 800 (it's what I had already) Not the fastest, but I don't have issues right now, so.

Video Card
GTS 250 1 Gig

Power Supply
BFI 650 Watt

Two DVD-r Drives (from two different Pc's that I inherited when they died).

3 HDDs - total of 1.1 TB of space.

22" LG wide screen and when the kids aren't playing the 360, 46" Insignia HD TV (It's made by LG)

Windows 7 Ultimate

Case
Thermal Take V3 Black Edition

The motherboard was picked due it's compatibility with DDR2 and DDR3 as well as full support for old AMD procs AND the new Hex Cores (1090T anyone??).

The Proc was part of a bundle with the MOBO at tiger direct.

Can run all of my games at pretty decent settings and maintains a 35+ frame rate (including GTA IV). I'll post up some pics tonight or tomorrow. Stuck at work now.

Looks good, but that PSU is iffy and I hope that the RAM is 2x2GB and 2x1GB, AMD systems don't like tri channel.

Case is rubbish, sorry :(

Everything else looks fine, contrary to what you think your mobo will not natively support a hexacore. With a BIOS flash, yes, but why would you buy a 785 chipset and AM2+ CPU, when an 890 chipset and quad Athlon isn't much more?

Like I said - my First one.

The RAM is 2x2, I believe - it's what was in my dual core system that the kids have now.

BIOS has already been flashed (first thing I did after I got it) - but I may not try a hex in it.....might upgrade it to a faster quad....or start my next build. Undecided on that, really.

The MOBO and chip were bundled for like $160, I think, so......you know. Built it back in May, so that was an OK deal at the time.

I knew I would add a water cooler to the system, so the case was bought on my personal taste in how it looks. I have a couple of fans in use for airflow, but they are mainly for the HDD's, video card and MOBO.

I have not had a single issue with anything so far and am really quite happy with it. At least until the next game I can't run comes along.....lol

Thanks for your input!

P.S. - Will get some pics tomorrow - slept late this morning and did not take any.[hr:39mywqkv][/hr:39mywqkv]
Oh - and the PS was suspect - paid $25 for it - but it has performed with out flaw so far. That said, my system is on 24/7 and it does fine.

6GB =/= 2x2GB... how many DIMMS are there??

You bought a V3 for wcing?? Are we talking about the same V3? As in, this POS?

Not to offend you (well, sort of), but you can't buy a case purely on aesthetics, that case is like a bratty younger brother to the Antec 300, and we all know how crappy that case is.

A case should last you a few builds, the low end Lian Li's are cheap, quality cases, you at least could've got one of them.

To be perfectly honest, you're better off upgrading nearly everything next time. I used to run an Athlon II X2 245 w/ an Asus 785G board, and when I upgraded to my 955, it just wasn't worth keeping the old board. I gave it to mum and now run a Gigabyte 890FX UD5

Aye - same case - I could have done more research when I started - but it was more of a "can I do this?" and spur of the moment kind of thing. With the way everything on it is now, it will make an OK system for the kids. My next one will get a lot more thought. Will prolly look at building a true beast - but, alas - money is a bit short right now..........

Thanks for the input, I appreciate both your opinions!
