Need Some Help On Buying New Laptop was created by [BBF] Seawolvz

I am saddened that I have to phase out my desktop, but I'm trying to slim down my study and I would use a laptop much more than a desktop at this point in time.
Anyway, I have two laptops with very similar specs, the major difference here is that one uses the Nvidia 460M GPU (with GDDR5 ram on both) and the other uses a Radeon 5870, both have the i7 CPU, 640 GB HD, 6 GB DDR3 RAM,

I've done some research on both, but I don't know if anyone has one of these gpus at home.:huh:

Hey Sea,

Can you list or point a link to the brand you are looking at. I am wanting to get a new laptop so that I can play anywhere. Not that I am phasing out my desktop I just need to be more mobile around the house. I was looking at the Alienware's stuff but that is a tad expensive and shot my focus on the Asus stuff. I do not have either but was wondering the same as you. I am also looking for a 13" screen and not the 15". The 13" may not have the same capabilities but was wondering if anyone has gamed on a rig with a smaller screen.

mugger... 13"...lol...I have one of the asus G72s...17" screen....it's a beast, but plays everythign still nicely...wanted the 15" model, but when I bought it only the 17" was available...it's nice to have the larger screen, but it's heavy and large to lug around...personally I don't like the 13" screens, they are jsut a bit too small. ont he other hand, you can generally et away with a bit less perromance as the screen resolution is smaller as well....so the price should be better....

not sure what asus has in their newer models, but they usually are decently priced for what they got to offer.

i have the 460m in the laptop i have now and people have said that after the drivers update it is a tad faster in most games than the 5870.....so truly it will just depend on what brand you think is more reliable......both cards will be able to play most games on at least high so either is good

I want the smaller screen so it is more portable and I can carry it with me as well as have it for playing in bed.

yeah, the 17" is a beast to lug around....and the airplane inverters don't like it either.....(the only reason I took it was so that I could watch some DVDs and play some games while sitting on the dang plane for 8hrs...blew a fuse right on booting...)
