As some of you know tonight many people experienced a ton of lag and the server even crashed once.

During this time i was watching the console and compiled 6 IP's that were pinging the server continuously. The issue with this is it uses the servers memory and when the server is low on memory the server will kick all players and close all events so the server can compensate for the memory shortage. This is what they call a DDOS attack.

We (the server admins) actualey save at least 1 week of server logs when we do changes to the server so we can always look back at events if needed so i cross checked the 6 IP's with those logs as well as 3 other IP's that Duce discovered the other day when we had another DDOS attack.

I realized that between 9 IP's they have pinged our server almost 40,000 times within 7 days.

I sent my list of IP's to the host and they will work with us to blacklist these IP's and i am hoping this will prevent any further issues.

We also added an old plugin called AntiBotJoin that prevents players from logging in under a Proxy server. With the amount of attacks we are having i plan on keeping this plugin active.

You may experience brief lag while joining the server as well as when multiple new people log in at the same time.
