How about this:

You spawn fenced in atop a large hill. The only way out is down a waterside. At the end of the waterside is a drop where you freefall into a pool of water located on top of a building. When you get out o the pool, the only way to go is down a staircase into the building, taking you to the second floor. On this floor are all of the rules and notices of the server. At the end of all of the signs, you go down a second staircase to the main floor. This floor is a reception-like room that leads to the outside world (freebuild, portals, etc). In side the building, there is another staircase heading downward into the ground. This could be a server shop.
