Hi everyone,
I'm still a Recruit here and I'm not sure if I'm crossing lines with this post or not. I'm aware though, that I might be stepping on at least some peoples toes. But anyways...
I enrolled here about 2 weeks ago and my impressions of the clan so far all come down to the word "confussion". Maybe I'm simply blind to it, but the CoC left aside, I'm not able to find any structure in the division, especially regarding new members.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not intending to point fingers or anything like that. My intention is to bring up some constructive critique.
So yeah, if you look at the forum, there are several threads from new members who are looking for people to play with (I wrote one myself, so I know, lol.). There's nothing wrong with that at first glance, but if you think about it ... Is it really a good standard for a clan like BBF to have newcomers running around clueless on how to get in line with the rest of their clanmates?
In LoL we're facing a problem, which you don't find in other games like FPS': Matchmaking. If you take your common MMO FPS game, you'll have a server there where everyone is playing on and the new people just join that server and are right in the fray. But on LoL you have to
find people first before you can start playing.
So, why not setting up a division rooster? A list of all current BBF-Members and recruits of the LoL division. A new recruits duty would than be adding those people to their friendslist in LoL. Because finding people to play with starts right there, where you can see who's online and who's free for a game.
My next topic is: Integration.
New clan members are a folk of their own. And as all people they all got different characters. You'll always have some walking in "Here I am, let's roll", but there are also others, who aren't as extroverted. If you want those to fit into your community, you'll need set members to approach them, or even drag them by ear. It always takes two to dance tango, but someone always has to make the first step. A clan (and that includes every single member of said clan) simply has certain obligations in this area, but that's my opinion.
Why am I bring this up you ask? Quite simple; In those two weeks I'm here, there was hardly anyone who approached me on his/her own accord to play a match, neither ingame nor in TS. I'm not really complaining about this for myself, I'm rather introverted when it comes to new people and always need alot of time to settle myself with new people, so I'm used to this. But BBF is a clan that wants to grow and establish itself in the WWW and here's space for improvement.
How can this be improved? There are many ways, for example:
- the officers can grab new people when they see them on TS and introduce themselves.
- There can be scheduled games for new recruits, beside the the "you have to post 4 times a week in the forum to be active rule"
- If you see someone in a TS room on his own, just move him/her to the rest of the pack (unless you're in the middle of a match)
- Invite other clanmembers to games, even if you know they suck ingame (they cant improve without training)
- ... and so on ...
Oh well, I'll end here now, since this post just gets longer and longer.
Again, my intention is NOT to point fingers, or troll, or what ever. I'm also not demanding anything. I'm simply bringing up a matter that's often invisble to "older" clan members. So yeah. I'm simply trying to make suggestions to make a great clan even better.
So long,
Sopheus
