Figured I would start a discussion thread about Day Z Standalone (supposedly coming next month) and throw out the things we would hope/like to see implemented into the standalone.

This is also a good opportunity for all of you to get up your post count and not get pruned (thank me later).

I hope for a wider variety of looks for people... Im not talking barbie dress up kind of stuff, but more lootable gear that changes how you look... different kinds of camo clothing, and better bandit/hero skins... I liked some of these pics i saw in a thread discussing it... these are already in Arma and it would be nifty to have similar looks in the standalone for bandits or "seasoned" survivors... I think your long life in the wild should be reflected by how you look... its a symbol of sorts... i know if i was alive for months in a zombie world I would have adapted and made my own attire/gear/getup to reflect that (not even intentionally but over time)... Not just my baseball cap and the same shiny white shirt that I washed up on shore with... and that shirt should get friggin dirty! ide be strippin off all those bright colors in no time and lathering myself with mud.

New larger map. 100+ player servers. Permanent stat tracking. Locked gamma. Better hero/bandit system. better patroling scripts for Zeds. zeds that spawn and guard high value targets. high value loot on zeds, like nvg on pilot zeds. More random starting locations. starting weapon, even a stick would be nice. group/party/fellowship voip.

I would like to see weapon tables changed, but I know this is very unlikely because too many people would cry without AS50's and other antimaterial rifles... but i think the game would feel way better if the only snipers were bolt action hunting rifles and non-nato material weapons... more of AKs being GOOD guns to find and less of "Oh an AK?... pfft... no thanks... wheres that MK48"

I would like to get that fuzzy feeling again when I find a decent gun (by real life standards) in game... If I found a AK kobra in real life I would be shitting my pants and be stoked... I wouldnt be like "ah, nah... my winchester does more damage to people...."

I loved Day Z before they nerfed all the weapon damage... Enfield used to do 12k damage and crossbows used to be one shot kills... I think nearly any gun should be deadly if you hit a vital spot... I guess thats why I like games like red orchestra 2... instant kill if you hit a guy in the heart or head and nearly any solid hit to upper body (besides arms) will kill a guy with a mosin nagant or any of the guns... hitting them in the legs or other non vital spots causes a wound that requires immediate bandaging before bleed out...

If I shot a average guy with a 1911 pistol in the torso, i'm pretty sure they would stop in their tracks... especially a decent size revolver (.454 if ever put in). And im pretty sure if I got shot with any kind of rifle I would shit a brick and be taking a seat. Nobody has body armor on that im aware of, and if people want varying hit damage, they could implement more clothing types to loot that can do that... I don't wanna see body armor being something retarded like call of duty where you can hit a claymore once but not twice kind of deal... but if you looted a flak jacket, you could defeat up to a certain caliber in that one area if hit and after being hit, the durability/quality is compromised and would become useless after a firefight/being shot, etc... I don't want to see human tanks walking around, but it would make it more interesting.

if weapon tables don't change, i would at least like to see the rarity of higher weapons be increased exponentially so that the majority of people are running around with your basic civilian issue firearms rather than 95% of the server running around with DMRs and AS50s.

I like the walking dead series... I like that most of the group uses melee weapons to keep noise low while moving through zeds... I also like that some of their best guns are simple pistols/revolvers and a few shotguns/hunting rifles. Ammo also being scarce would eliminate people having ridiculous weaponry and tons of rounds for it as well...

I also think zeds should be sped up so they run faster than people and are more noise driven than visual... Gillies and camo should mask you from visual of zeds better and noise should set them off from all over... zombies should also be headshot only kills.... If zombies were a major threat, there would be less douchebags shooting for no reason in the heart of a city full of zeds... The more people have to contemplate their actions, the better.... even if a survivor ran into another survivor in cherno... would that survivor be willing to take the shot and kill the survivor at the risk of alerting every zed in the city?

This would also change every bit of how people play and even old seasoned veterans of Day Z would have to relearn and be in danger again... it would change the way the game is played... change the way people loot... farm... kill people... etc... people would likely work together more than not if the zombies were a massive threat in high numbers...

With this being said... I woudl like to see zombie spawn rates slowed way the hell down... a competent group of survivors should be able to clear a town/city/area of zeds and be rewarded with time to loot freely and recoop and headback out... this would also leave behind a trail for bandits/survivors to follow in the wake up dead zombies...

I also look forward to more options for building fortifications.... or objectives that require a large group to complete... like fixing up damaged buildings to make into a base... boarding up doors, windows, or adding drop bars on doors... barricades, etc... I would love barricading myself in a building and starting up a radio station after I find radio equipment in the game and become the next three dog of the chernarus wasteland....bringing you the news... no matter how bad it hurts!

I don't think zombies should be faster. I think they should be slower but there be allot more of them. As in Ramero style zombies from Night of the Living Dead instead of 28 days later.

^ This ^ I would like to see 5X as many zombies, but 10X slower spawn rate. This plus zombies that spawn and stay inside HVTs would be awesome. I would also like to add that melee weapons should take the pistol slot or have their own equipment slot.
