Looks great. I would up the ssd a bit, unless you are diligent to keep clutter on your c drive to a minimum.

yer dark i read somewhere with the motherboard that they have a small (256mb i think) cache as is with the solid state drive allowing for quicker bootup speed of the program u last used, oh and i also forgot to metion i also have my original ssd (although only a 64mb chach i think, it was the first one to come out in australia) which is another 32gb on top of that, have a limit on cash at 2 nd a half thousand and would honestly rather saving the excess to use for additional cooling should i need it(planning to overclock the 2600 to hell and back) and if no further cooling is needed then perhaps using it towards a preorder for bf3 followed by seeing the next gen of cards off to a bang with a brand spanker (assuming they dont change the pci slot)

- CPU
i7 2600k is amazing cpu
i have both i7-990x and i7 2600k
in many cases 2600k perfoms better in games.
if you are thinking about overclocking a bit, (since you are getting h80 i think you are), i7 2600k will be the best one to get. i've tried many cpus and my conclusion was i7 2600k was the best performing cpu in both amd and intel for gaming.
i am running at 5.2ghz stable.

- Motherboard
Asus makes amazing board, but in the same price range why don't you get ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z.
ROG board has better Caps and easier to Overclock.
Also in this case, it is even cheaper! the reason would be it is M-atx board. but it has CF SLI support and so on.... so shouldnt be a problem for you.
(this is the board that i am using)

- SSD, Memory
Patriot is new to the SSD and Memeory.
they are known to be unstable to many ppl in many cases.
i would go for Corsair Memory
i would go for OCZ SSD.

- PSU
HX and TX they are both best ones you can get other than AX series.
i have both TX and HX.
TX hard to control cables.
HX modular helps to control cable management.
and i am not sure but i think HX gives you little more Amperage per Rail.
i would go with HX.
reason would be you are not getting a high-end case. meaning you won't have cable management system within the case.

- GPU
if you are serious about having two cards, go for Nvidia.
comparing HD 6xxx and GTX 5xx series, Nvidia tends to scale better in most of the games.

- Monitor
Asus monitor their colors are real dull......... had them for a while and changed.

-AMD option
if you are gonna get AMD wait just a bit!
bulldozer chips are almost out.
they are supposed to be performing better than 2600k and 2500k at much lower price

cheers sleep, would u mind pming me your volatges/any other clock rate information u have reguarding the 2600, yes i was planning to clock it to at least 5ghz, if u have 5.2 stable than any information reguarding the subject would be fantastic, does the asus have an independant software program like easytune for the gigabyte mobo's, or will i have to do it via bios? (either way i will be doing it just wondering what the easiest option is, although both options are easy imo)

yer ive never really been an amd man as well, intel ftw, ever since the pentium 4 and the 9600gt ive been an intel/nvidia man but someone conviced me radeon have taken over the race for great graphics cards, any opinion on that debate?

and again to add more queries, yer i was going to go a maximus V (pushing my budget to the 2.4k mark, and i hear they have fantastic ocing properties, the only thing that made me chose the current mobo over a gene-z was that the current mobo i have was worth more $$$ is this purely because of demand, or like u said is the maximus simply a better board, and would u recomend a gene-z or spending the extra $150 and just getting a maximus V???

oh and asus monitor was already changed to a 27" led lg monitor prior to entering the above list it was on old copy and paste sorry, any better suggestions as far as monitor goes??? (samsung ect ect??)

and sorry but when u say cable management within the ccase im completley left dumbfounded (for the first time in my life reguarding computers so props to u) my version of what i would call cable management is a bunch of zipties, followed by leaving the case sides off to help ventilation or in the case of not leaving the case sides off adding an extra fan or 2 into the case, is this what u mean by cable management or am i more dumbfounded by the subject than what i initially thought

cheers sleep ya help is more than appreciated:)[hr:2oicabxf][/hr:2oicabxf]
sorry to double post, the forums have become confusing since the update (been ages since i was on cannot find the edit button, should really be fixed to make it easy to spot)

would u personally reccommend the 990x was my original choice of cpu (i know its a 1366 and all i just dont see the justification in the price jump when i could sli on an earlier board for half the price and get well and truly drunk with the other half of the savings) is the performance boost not that fantastic when running games, and to add to the double post, ive always been an xp fanboy, this will be my first jump into vista/win7, will i have to dual boot to use my favourite os or is there some form of compatability mode within vista itself??? and too add further whats the max ram supported by vista (would it be worth upgrading to anything more than 8gb) because i remember xp only supported 3.66ghz, and again to add to the doublepost, is there an added funtion within vista/win7 to support some of my x32bit classics no longer supported by the x64bit software, have googled all of the above topics but in my drunk state as i am now an unable to clarify my queries, tho hopefully able to explain in a clear and concise way, sorry to paco i know u said no drunk posts in the forums anymore its a no no but i hope i havnt completly confused anyone with these queries[hr:2oicabxf][/hr:2oicabxf]
ahh cool its all colaborated into the one post in the forums now, dw bout that double post stuff, entice out peace lads:)

- Case cable management
some cases like one that u chose, are not well thought-out for routing cables.
it is really important to route cable well when you are thinking about overclocking your CPU. better cable management = better airflow.
www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811139008
this is an amazing case from Corsair. well thought out. nice build quailty and real easy to clean dust, real easy to manage cable, plenty of space at the back panel to tie cables with zips. and good price as well!

- CPU cooler
H80 is amazing but H100 is the greatest! case above supports H100 natively and works like a charm might want to consider. better cooler = more stable = more room for overclocking
i7 2600k @ 5.0 ghz = power of i7 970 (just around)
i7 2600k @ 5.2 ghz = power of i7 990x
and to clock it beyond 5.0ghz you might want to use H100.

*price gain
you pay $30 more for H100 and gain $300 worth of performance in CPU

- Motherboard
ROG series is made for Overclocking and extreme users. They tend to go full build with ATX or E-ATX. it is rare for them to have M-ATX board. that's the reason why Gene-z is little cheaper in market. (usually they are hard to sell cuzing price to drop a bit). ROG boards have better Voltage control (most important thing in Overclocking). If you are not considering 3-way or beyond SLI or CF, don't need to get ROG ATX boards. M-ATX would be more than enough.

and if you decide to get the Gene-z i can give you all the setting i have.

- Ram
since you are going to overclock, it is real important to get good rams. Corsair Vengeance 1600 9-9-9-24 would be perfect for you. no need to go beyond 1600 speed, in real life there is almost no difference. unless you go nitro cooling.

- Monitors
LG have less spare parts stocked (almost non) in North america
Samsung they have plenty.

and Samsung makes best Monitors at this moment.

- Regarding socket 1155 / 1366
unless you are actually using computing power to calculate complicated stuff (video randering and so on....) there is no reason to go 1366. Overclocked i7 2600k will perform better in gaming over 990x.
x58 chipsets are used in 1366 and z58 chips in 1155 are better.

Unless you want to go Full liquid custom loop with 1366 990x stay with 1155
1366 with full liquid set-up is when 1366 socket shines over 1155. from my experience.

- Windows
windows 7 - 64bit is what you want!. you can put as much ram as possible and get them working. They are compatable with XP stuff. Vista is no no no no!

- i will try to post little more about this topic later this evening

with the monitors yer im in australia lol, and unfortunatly the best computer wholesaler in aus (msy.com.au) dont stock the h100's only the 80's tho i know i can get a 100 for $50 more so i guess im asking if its worth the price, or will an 80 do the job for a 5.2 ghz? (btw used to be an electrical apprentice and have the spray for high voltage with excellent heat disappating qualities, its basically a fireproofing spray we would use when we had to go through firewalls with 3 phase power? im a lil suspect about using it on my new computer but with careful cabletying (i can make my own rack to segregate the individual channels of power) and using this spray (before the cable are even attached of course dont plan on spraying 3 grand worth of equipment with a fibreglass like supstance would this be enough as far as heat disappation is concerned?) any reccomendations for monitor in specific last one i had (dont quote me exactly ive been drinking) was a wd2240 or something similar from lg and prior to that a crappy old 17" crt, so i dont really know much about screens all ive been looking for is basically 24+inches with a 2 milisecond response time and a decent contrast ratio, never really been into screens so anything i should be looking for please to tell tho noob:)

The H100 is awesome if you are going to be building a new build look into the corsair link dark or sleep might be able to explain it more then I but its seems like its going to be pretty sweet.

My H80 came in shambles and didn’t work properly nor did it cool much better than my zalman cnps 9900 so I'm hoping the new one they are sending me will work much better. I am running at 4.125 you will be much higher than me like I said as soon as the new H80 gets here ill give you my suggestions. The H80 and H1000 are still fairly new to the market.
